What do you know about the island of St. John?

Q: I am going there on spring break and if anyone has traveled there and done something really cool then I would really love to know about it. I know it's a little early to ask about spring break but I like to plan ahead of time.

A: St John is laid back kind of island. If you are looking for alot of action, St Thomas is the larger of the 4 islands and would be a better pick for spring break. St John is the type of island to explore. It's 2/3rds National Park land. If you like to hike, this is perfect for you. Other activities are swimming, diving, snorkeling, sailing, horseback-riding, camping, shopping and sightseeing. A great place to hang out at the beach on a float watching the clouds go by. Lots of restaurants to choose from. From inexpensive to expensive. The nightlife on St. John tends to be more low-key then its sister island St. Thomas. There are several bars around the island. Many focus on music, food and good times. Live music, including reggae bands, is a popular entertainment. The island of St John is in a great location, very close to the British Virgin Islands. Many visitors take the ferry over to Virgin Gorda or Tortola for the day. Or if you wish you can go on a power boat charter excursion to the BVI There are 2 resorts on the island. Caneel Bay and Westin. You also have some smaller condo type lodging. Gallows Point Resort. Plenty of B&B's and of course Maho Bay Camps. Many tourists rent house/villa on this island.
