Q: Why? Is there any way around this? Are there any other options, minus car rental, just to get around the city quickly?
A: Of course they require a drivers license. It's a motor vehicle. there are plenty of public transportation options for travel. The water taxi takes you to and from downtown and paradise island from 9am - 6pm for just $3pp. The jitney bus takes you from downtown to the bridge, or downtown to cable Beach for $1pp.. (6am - 7pm) and there are tons of local taxies which are relatively cheap. Plus, downtown is walkable .. as we'll as Paradise island. You don't need a car or a scooter to get by.
